In the East Bay, you can find Chinese restaurants spanning a wide range of price points, with decors that often parallel their price point. It is always fun to find new restaurants that feature the cuisine of a particular region, and offer regional specialties. I am always interested in trying “new” Chinese restaurants. We will definitely be back for more - especially on Mondays and Wednesdays for lunch! ![]() All in all, a very pleasant, quiet and inexpensive option for lunch in an otherwise busy, boisterous neighborhood of quick eat joints. Dishes are served on beautiful, contemporary white platters and bowls of various designs and shapes with small square lunch plates accompanied by silvered metal chopsticks. Great menu with seemingly unlimited options! And the service is cordial and efficient, fitting perfectly with the quiet atmosphere of a bright open kitchen restaurant at the end of a busy block with window views of the surrounding residential neighborhood. Lots of choices of meat or seafood dishes and a delightful selection of tofu and vegetarian options, too! Additionally, there is an entire column of rice or egg noodle dishes, all mixed with your choice of chicken, pork, shrimp or tofu. A selection of lunch plates follows with a price range of $10-$14, including side vegetable and either steamed white or brown rice. Our offering was hot and sour and, at first I thought it odd there were no condiments on the table, until I tasted the soup and realized it was just perfect with no additions. ![]() Just $2 for a bottle of Sapporo or Tsingtao beer is enough to make any cuisine palatable, but at Lin Jia it is the perfect refreshment to wash down a delicious lunch of your choosing (note: a variety of other international and local brews are also 50% off on Mondays, and wine is 50% off on Wednesdays!) Each lunch begins with a small bowl of soup. ![]()
